Military Laws

A 1947 Act letting the Federal Government declare a service "vital to the community" during an emergency, requiring Army, Navy, and Air Force personnel to obey commands connected with that service as lawful orders.

A 1969 Ordinance setting a uniform inquiry procedure for investigating the conduct of Defence Services members serving outside their normal unit, covering how boards of inquiry are convened and their findings acted upon.

A 1938 law authorising the military to conduct manoeuvres and live field-firing/artillery practice on designated land, with rules protecting sensitive sites and providing compensation to affected landowners, alongside fines for interfering with the exercises.

A 1923 law giving effect in Pakistan to an international treaty limiting naval armaments, requiring a government licence before anyone may build, arm, or equip a warship, with seizure and forfeiture powers for violations.

This 1952 Act establishes the Pakistan Armed Forces Nursing Service as part of the Armed Forces, setting eligibility, discipline, and rule-making powers, with its members' service governed by the Army, Air Force, and Navy laws.

A 1950 law establishing and governing the Pakistan Army and Air Force Reserves, placing reservists under military discipline and giving the government rule-making power over their training, pay, and terms of service.

A 1953 Act establishing the Pakistan Junior Cadet Corps, a school-based military training programme for boys, run under Chief of the Army Staff oversight.

A 1959 ordinance authorizing the Pakistan Military Academy at Kakul to award its own B.A./B.Sc. degrees and Intermediate certificates to cadets and commissioned officers who complete its Arts or Science courses.

A 1950 law allowing the Pakistan Navy to retain enrolled sailors in service beyond their original expired term, for up to five extra years, until formally discharged.

A 1973/74 law implementing Article 256 of the Constitution's ban on private armies: it lets the Federal Government declare a private military-capable organisation illegal, and makes forming, joining, or participating in one punishable by up to five years' imprisonment plus a fine.

A 1901 law exempting Pakistan Army and Air Force personnel, reserves, and their accompanying property from paying road, bridge and ferry tolls, with a fifty-rupee fine (per Section 5) for anyone who improperly collects a toll from them.

A 1941 wartime ordinance letting the government set up compensation schemes for people injured by enemy action or civil defence duty during hostilities, replacing normal compensation lawsuits with scheme-based payments.

The Works of Defence Act, 1903 lets the government restrict building and other uses of land near military sites like forts and airfields, through a formal notice-and-inquiry process, while compensating affected landowners via a Collector's award that can be challenged before a Court. It is a very old, amended law.
