Pakistan Navy (Extension of Service) Act, 1950

The Pakistan Navy (Extension of Service) Act, 1950 is a brief, focused law dealing with sailors whose enrolled term of service has technically expired but who the Navy still needs to retain. Section 2 provides that, until a date the Federal Government notifies, any person enrolled for Pakistan Navy service who is no longer legally liable to serve because their agreed term has ended will nonetheless continue to be enrolled and liable for service until formally discharged by order of the Officer Commanding the Pakistan Navy.

The extension is not open-ended: a proviso caps it at five years beyond the date the person's original service would otherwise have ended.

This is a short wartime/post-independence administrative measure aimed at retaining trained naval personnel during a period of institutional transition, and its practical relevance today is largely historical.
