Ex-Employees of the Former Government of East Pakistan (Appointment to Federal Posts) Ordinance, 1983.

Section 2 defines "employee" as someone who worked for the former East Pakistan government and was repatriated or migrated to Pakistan between 16 December 1971 and 31 December 1974, as a result of the enemy occupation or the establishment of Bangladesh. It also defines "former post," "Grade" (by reference to the National Pay Scale), and "post" (meaning a post in an All-Pakistan Service or a Federal Government service).

Section 3 allows such an employee, with the approval of the competent authority (as defined under the Civil Servants Act, 1973), to be appointed to an existing or supernumerary federal post in a Grade equivalent, as far as practicable, to their former East Pakistan post -- effective from the date they take up that post.

Section 4 lets the employee's service under the former East Pakistan government count toward their seniority in the Grade of their new federal post. Section 5 similarly lets any service that had qualified for pension under the former East Pakistan government count toward pension under the Federal Government.
