Rent Laws

The 1924 law that creates and governs Cantonment Boards -- the local administrations for Pakistan's military cantonment towns -- covering their elections, taxation powers, and public safety and sanitation duties, most recently amended in 2023.

A 1923 Act letting the government take privately owned houses in notified cantonments on lease for military officers' accommodation, with dispute procedures before Civil Courts and an appeal route to the High Court; a very old, heavily amended law.

A 1953 law that fixes how "fair rent" is calculated for residential and commercial premises in Karachi, restricts rent increases and evictions, and bans informal payments like Pagri -- though it has since been amended and partly superseded.
